With high energy costs making bills more expensive every year, keeping yourself warm in winter can be a real challenge.
But if you receive some sort of disability or carer’s benefit you could be eligible for free home insulation under a new Government-backed scheme.
How does insulation work?
If your home has cavities in the walls or a loft that haven’t been properly insulated, you could be losing about 35% of all the heat from your central heating, costing you hundreds in wasted energy, every single year and making it really difficult to keep yourself warm.
Who is eligible for free home insulation?
To get a free, 100% non-repayable grant, you just have to be:
– On a qualifying disability benefit like Disability Living Allowance, Carers Allowance, Constance Attendance Allowance etc (and many more!)
– A homeowner, or living in a privately-rented property
– In a home that hasn’t already been insulated
Sound good? Here’s the easy bit!
